Medieval Texts and Images
Studies of Manuscripts from the Middle Яр es
Edited by Margaret M. Manion and Bernard J. Muir
This handsome volume contains a collection of eleven essays by scholars with
specialist interest in manuscripts and the relationship between texts and
artistic images, and is illustrated by eighty-four black and white figures and
eight colour plates. The manuscripts are broadly called Medieval, since they
belong to the tradition of book production before the age of printing, although
there is some overlap with the Renaissance period.
The collection will be of interest to an international audience with a wide range
of specializations, including art historians, liturgists, and literary scholars. The
papers in it deal with manuscripts in collections in Europe and the United
States, and also with some held in libraries in Australia and New Zealand, an
area of particular interest to the editors and contributors.
